Baltimore City teachers will see their pay increase following approval of a new two-year contract between the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners and the Baltimore Teachers Union, FOX45 Baltimore reported.

The agreement includes pay raises of 2% in fiscal year 2027 and 2.3% in fiscal year 2028. With annual step increases, most union members can expect total pay growth of about 10.3% over the two years.

In addition to base pay raises, the contract raises stipend rates for work outside the regular school day and updates 39 sections of the employee contract to clarify policies and improve staff experience, according to FOX45 Baltimore.

The board and union also plan to collaborate on managing health care costs while keeping insurance premiums affordable for employees.

Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Jermaine Dawson emphasized the importance of competitive salaries amid changing economic factors and living costs, stating the agreement reflects commitment to supporting teachers’ financial well-being and professional growth.

The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners approved the contract at a public meeting on October 21, marking a step toward retaining and supporting educators in the district.
