The Carolina Hurricanes have activated forward Seth Jarvis, who has missed the entire season so far due to offseason shoulder surgery, WRAL reported.

Jarvis is expected to play Thursday night in Edmonton, marking his first appearance this season after missing the first 11 games. Last season, he scored 32 goals and had 34 assists in 71 games for Carolina.

Despite injuries to key forwards, including captain Jordan Staal and Taylor Hall, the Hurricanes have started strong with an 8-2-1 record and hold the NHL's top spot with 17 points.

The team also made roster moves by recalling forward Skyler Brind’Amour from Chicago and assigning Bradly Nadeau to Chicago. Brind’Amour is the son of Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour and has limited NHL experience.

The Hurricanes will continue their road trip with a game in St. Louis on Saturday, coinciding with the State Fair.
