The Coastal Carolina Fair is back for its 69th year, opening Thursday at the Ladson Fairgrounds, according to Live 5 WCSC. The event runs daily from October 29 through November 8, with most days operating between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., and longer hours on weekends, WCBD reported.

The fair features more than 80 amusement rides, live entertainment, games, and a variety of food options, as noted by The Post and Courier. Safety is a priority, with rides inspected daily before visitors enter the park, Live 5 WCSC said.

Organized by the Exchange Club of Charleston, the fair raises significant funds for local charities. Last year, nearly $950,000 was donated to organizations including Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic, Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, Lowcountry Food Bank, and others, according to The Post and Courier and Live 5 WCSC.

This year’s fair celebrates America’s 250th birthday with the Americana 250 Band Organ playing traditional carnival music daily, The Post and Courier reported. Admission tickets cost $16.50 for adults and teens, $7.75 for children ages 6 to 12, and younger children enter free. Wristbands for unlimited rides are $37.25 in addition to admission.

Special events include “Senior Day” on Wednesday, offering a less-crowded experience for adults 55 and older from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Live 5 WCSC said. Attendees are encouraged to bring clear bags and review park policies before visiting.
