Early voting for the midterm elections begins Monday in Charleston County, South Carolina, with election officials anticipating above-average voter turnout due to the convenience of early voting and competitive races on the ballot, WCIV reported.

There are seven early voting centers in Charleston County, part of 17 centers across the Tri-County area including Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Voters can use any center within their registered county.

Isaac Cramer, executive director of the Charleston County Board of Elections, said he expects a large crowd on the first day of in-person voting, highlighting the ease and convenience of the process.

Voters are reminded to bring a photo ID and check their sample ballot before visiting a voting center. Early voting centers will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays. The last day to vote early is October 31.

While there is no presidential race on the ballot, voters will choose candidates for federal, state, and local offices, including governor, U.S. Senate, and Congress, as well as ballot questions such as one involving Charleston County’s transportation sales tax, according to WCIV and political science expert Mark Owens of The Citadel.
