A former Haines City Police Department officer was arrested in Orlando on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando and FOX 35 Orlando reported.

The officer, Joseph Everett, was off duty at the time but was driving a department patrol vehicle when he was pulled over and arrested, according to FOX 35 Orlando. He had been with the Haines City Police Department since July 2026.

Following the arrest, the Haines City Police Department confirmed that Everett is no longer with the agency. The department's chief expressed concern over the incident, highlighting it as a serious violation of departmental policies and a breach of professional standards.

The chief also noted that Everett had been given a second opportunity to serve in law enforcement after previously separating from another agency, underscoring the department's commitment to accountability and high conduct standards.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
