Former Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs would consider U.S. Senate appointment
Glenn Jacobs, former Knox County Mayor and WWE star, said he would seriously consider an appointment to Marsha Blackburn's Senate seat if offered.
Former Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, also known as WWE star Kane, said he would seriously consider an appointment to the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Marsha Blackburn, according to an interview on the “Fox News Rundown” podcast.
Jacobs made the statement during the podcast interview on October 7, when Blackburn was running for governor of Tennessee and Jacobs was serving as her campaign treasurer. He described the potential appointment as a huge honor.
Marsha Blackburn won the governor’s race on November 3 and is expected to vacate her Senate seat when she takes office in January. Tennessee’s governor has the authority to appoint someone to fill the Senate vacancy until a special election is held in 2028.
Jacobs, a WWE Hall of Famer known by his ring name Kane, has not been announced as the governor’s choice for the Senate appointment.
The appointment decision remains pending as the governor prepares to name a successor to Blackburn’s Senate seat.
