New Mexico AG sues Epstein's attorney and accountant over alleged abuse cover-up
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez filed a lawsuit accusing Epstein's attorney and accountant of hiding sex trafficking operations.
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced a lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein's attorney Darren Indyke and accountant Richard Kahn, accusing them of concealing Epstein's sex trafficking activities at his Santa Fe-area ranch, CBS News and PBS NewsHour reported.
The lawsuit aims to prevent Indyke and Kahn from receiving any payments from Epstein's estate, which is estimated to be worth over $100 million, according to PBS NewsHour.
Indyke served as Epstein's attorney for about 20 years, and both he and Kahn have testified before Congress denying knowledge of the abuse. However, Torrez stated that the operation was facilitated by multiple individuals, including lawyers and accountants, who have yet to face consequences.
Torrez emphasized that the estate's resources should go to survivors of Epstein's abuse unless a court rules otherwise. Efforts to reach Indyke and Kahn for comment were unsuccessful, and the U.S. Justice Department did not immediately respond regarding any federal investigation.
Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence after her 2021 conviction. Testimony during Maxwell's trial included allegations of abuse at Epstein's New Mexico ranch, known as Zorro Ranch.
