The Tampa Bay Rays secured a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. This win gives the Rays a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Pitcher Drew Rasmussen played a key role by allowing only one run over seven innings, marking his second postseason win. The Rays' offense maintained steady pressure, scoring single runs in each of the first three innings against Guardians pitchers Parker Messick and Tim Herrin.

The Guardians managed to score in the seventh inning but failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the eighth and ninth innings, leaving runners stranded. The Rays have won the last two games and will attempt to clinch their third AL pennant and first since 2020 in the upcoming game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Rays Manager Kevin Cash praised Rasmussen's performance, highlighting his effective fastball and change-up. The team has a strong home record this year, including postseason games, with 58 wins and 27 losses at Tropicana Field.

Cleveland Guardians are seeking their first World Series title since 1948 but face a tough challenge with the series lead now in Tampa Bay's favor. If necessary, Game 7 would be played on Tuesday, with the World Series scheduled to start Friday in Milwaukee.
