San Diego Mayor Gloria has signed a moratorium that would temporarily halt the development of data centers within the city limits, KPBS reported.

The moratorium is set to be considered by the San Diego City Council on Monday. If the council approves it, the pause on data center projects will remain in effect until the city establishes new regulations for these developments.

The moratorium will give the city time to develop regulations for data center development.

The City Council's decision next week will determine whether the moratorium becomes official and how the city will proceed with regulating data centers in the future.
