Bon Appetit reported that some cruise lines are moving away from traditional buffets and introducing onboard restaurants led by Michelin-starred chefs, focusing on quality and individual dietary preferences.

The SeaDream Yacht Club, founded by Atle Brynestad who has avoided meat for over 30 years, became the first cruise line in 2011 to offer a dedicated plant-based menu. Its two yachts remain unique for providing raw food menus at sea.

Raw food enthusiasts avoid processed foods and items heated above 118 degrees, believing this diet promotes youthfulness, clarity, and energy. The SeaDream menus include intense flavors and varied textures, not just simple salads.

The author and their son experienced the SeaDream's offerings during a weeklong cruise in the Caribbean, enjoying the yacht's amenities and plant-based cuisine while visiting destinations like the British Virgin Islands and St. Barthélemy.
