Selma Blair’s representatives stated that the actor did not intend to hurt anyone during an incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York. The incident led to allegations that Blair assaulted two flight attendants, a police officer, and a nurse.

According to the representatives, Blair experienced a medical emergency during the flight. They emphasized that she did not try to open the aircraft door and did not intend to cause harm, countering some portrayals of the event as inaccurate and unsympathetic.

Blair, who has publicly disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis since 2018, also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition related to MS that can affect behavior during medical episodes, according to her representatives. They noted that she travels with a service dog, which was taken from her during the incident.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey stated that Blair was accused of injuring two flight attendants on the plane, kicking a police officer en route to the hospital, and kicking a nurse there. Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault in state court and was released on bail, with a protective order issued for the officer and nurse involved. Her next court date is set for January.

The FBI has also charged Blair with assault related to the flight incident, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Blair has been an advocate for disability rights and the MS community, her representatives said.
