Stone Brewing World Bistro in Escondido to close Nov. 13 after 20 years
Stone Brewing's Escondido location, a popular craft beer destination, will close after 20 years as ownership changes hands.
Stone Brewing, a pioneer in craft beer known for its bold flavors and marketing, has been a staple in Escondido for two decades, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The brewery's Escondido location, opened on Citracado Parkway, featured a large state-of-the-art brewery and a two-story restaurant with multiple bars and outdoor taps overlooking a one-acre garden with trails, a lake, and other natural features.
The venue became a major attraction in North County, ranking third behind Legoland California Resort and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and was a source of pride for the city and its residents.
After Stone Brewing was sold to Sapporo in 2022, the Japanese company later sold Stone's brands and venues to Firestone Walker Brewing and Duvel USA but continued operating the Escondido bistro until recently.
Sapporo announced that Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido will close on November 13, marking the end of its 20-year presence in the city.
