Vice President JD Vance addresses economy, Iran, immigration in CBS town hall
Vance discussed Trump administration policies, cost of living, and his political future in a CBS News town hall.
Vice President JD Vance participated in a CBS News town hall where he answered voter questions on topics including the war in Iran, gas prices, immigration, and the economy, CBS News reported.
During the hour-long event moderated by Tony Dokoupil, Vance defended the Trump administration's handling of the economy and Iran strategy, stating he believes these policies will yield positive results in the future, according to CBS News.
Vance was also questioned about controversial immigration tactics and widespread dissatisfaction with the cost of living, issues that are significant in the upcoming midterm elections, CBS News noted.
The town hall included voters from Michigan, a key swing state that contributed to Vance and President Trump's 2024 victory and is central to a competitive Senate race that could influence control of the Senate next month, CBS News reported.
Regarding his own political future, Vance acknowledged the possibility of running for president in 2028 but said he has not made a decision yet, citing family considerations and his wife's preference for public service over politics, CBS News said.
Vance is viewed as a potential frontrunner in the Republican primaries and a possible successor to former President Trump, who has publicly supported him, CBS News added.
