A deck collapse at an off-campus home near the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg injured at least 28 students, officials reported. The incident occurred late Friday night on the 200 block of Matoaka Court, about half a mile from the campus, according to WTVR CBS 6.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported 13 injured students to hospitals, while 15 others sought medical care on their own. All injuries were described as non-life-threatening, NBC12 reported.

The city of Williamsburg's Codes Compliance Division was dispatched to inspect and evaluate the collapsed structure, as noted by both WTVR CBS 6 and NBC12. Officials are also working with local hospitals to confirm the total number of students treated.

William & Mary’s senior vice president for student affairs and public safety acknowledged the impact of the event on students and said multiple campus departments are providing support. Students in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the Student Affairs office, WTVR CBS 6 reported.
