A 93-year-old woman named Margaret Owen had to wait more than 10 hours on the floor after falling in her home, according to BBC Health. Her son, Graham Anthony, said she was in pain and sometimes screaming for help during the wait.

The incident occurred on October 4. Owen activated her lifeline alarm at 06:15 a.m. An ambulance was called at 7:35 a.m., but a St John Ambulance worker only arrived at 3:30 p.m. after a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service. It took another 90 minutes before an ambulance took her to the hospital.

Owen, who has dementia, suffered fractures to her femur and shoulder and required surgery. She remains hospitalized at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Her son expressed feelings of hopelessness over the delay.

Lee Brooks, the Welsh Ambulance Service boss, expressed regret upon hearing about Owen's experience. Anthony mentioned that his mother had difficulty recalling the full details of the incident due to her dementia.
