ALCS Game 4 between Rays and Guardians postponed due to rain
Game 4 of the ALCS between Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians postponed, rescheduled for Oct. 17 at Progressive Field.
Game 4 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians was postponed due to rain about an hour after its scheduled start on Oct. 16 at Progressive Field, according to news-herald.com and morningjournal.com.
The game has been rescheduled to 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Game 5 has also been pushed back to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the same venue.
The Guardians announced that fans holding tickets for Game 4 can use them for Game 5, and vice versa. Tickets purchased through secondary marketplaces will be honored for their respective games. Fans are advised to contact the ticket seller for further information.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt confirmed he will continue with relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong as the opener for the rescheduled Game 4. Vogt did not disclose plans beyond that but mentioned possible use of other pitchers such as Foster Griffin, Joey Cantillo, or Tanner Bibee.
If the series extends to seven games, Games 6 and 7 would be played at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. The Guardians currently lead the series 2-1.
Both teams face the possibility of playing four consecutive days if the series reaches seven games, which is unusual in playoff baseball but manageable, Vogt said.
