Ben Simmons, the former first overall NBA draft pick, is making a return to professional basketball this season with the Sacramento Kings.

Simmons has been away from the NBA for a year and is now fighting to reestablish himself as a capable rotation player with the Kings, according to lakeshowlife.com.

The next few months will be critical for Simmons as he aims to prove his value on the court and secure his place in the league.

If Simmons performs well through the season and up to the trade deadline in February, his skills could draw attention from other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, the report noted.

There are concerns about Simmons' performance and fit, but he is making a comeback bid with the Kings this season.
