Amazon to hire 300,000 seasonal workers nationwide including San Jose area
Amazon plans a 20% increase in holiday hiring, offering $20 per hour and new benefits starting in 2027.
Amazon announced it will hire 300,000 seasonal, part-time, and full-time workers across the U.S. for the upcoming holiday season, a 20% increase from last year, CBS News Bay Area reported.
The company said seasonal workers earn an average of $20 per hour, with full-time employees averaging about $24 per hour. Amazon also raised its minimum starting wage for full-time workers to $20 per hour in September.
Starting in 2027, seasonal employees working at least 30 hours per week will become eligible for healthcare benefits similar to those offered to full-time staff, according to Amazon.
Job listings for these positions will be posted weekly from October through December, providing opportunities for residents in the San Jose area and beyond.
Holiday retail sales are forecast to exceed $1 trillion for the first time this year, according to the National Retail Federation, highlighting the significance of seasonal hiring for retailers like Amazon.
