Maple Leafs defeat San Jose Sharks with Marchenko's assist
Toronto Maple Leafs beat San Jose Sharks 3-1, with Kirill Marchenko assisting in the win.
The Toronto Maple Leafs secured a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Monday, ending a three-game losing streak. Kirill Marchenko, recently traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets to Toronto, earned his sixth assist for the Maple Leafs in this game.
Marchenko, who spent his first four NHL seasons with the Blue Jackets, has been a strong offensive player, scoring at least 21 goals each season and achieving a 31-goal, 43-assist performance in the 2024-25 season, according to Yardbarker. He was traded to Toronto in late September and signed a six-year, $75 million contract with the Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs are aiming to post back-to-back victories for the first time this season. Marchenko has accumulated four goals and 10 points in his first 10 games with Toronto, Yardbarker noted.
