A California senator has introduced the Frontier AI Safety Act, marking the first legislation in the state focused on artificial intelligence safety, FOX40 reported.

The bill proposes establishing minimum safety standards for AI technologies to ensure they do not advance beyond current safety measures, according to FOX40.

Under the act, AI developers would be required to disclose the percentage of resources allocated to safety measures in their AI systems, the report said.

The legislation aims to balance innovation with safety, addressing concerns about AI development outpacing regulatory frameworks in California.

This initiative reflects growing attention on AI governance in the state, with the bill currently under consideration by California lawmakers.
