Morgan Gamble, a 21-year-old Clark Atlanta University student, will be laid to rest following a fatal car crash on October 13 at the intersection of Hank Aaron Drive and Glynn Street in Atlanta, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Ben Hill United Methodist Church on Fairburn Road, according to Atlanta News First.

Police say the driver, Nikolai Dunford, was traveling nearly 95 mph in a 35 mph zone when he struck Gamble’s car. Dunford was booked into Fulton County Jail and faces charges including first-degree vehicular homicide, FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First reported.

The crash has prompted calls from Summerhill residents and the Clark Atlanta University community for increased safety measures on Hank Aaron Drive. Residents describe the area as dangerous due to high speeds and lack of traffic controls, according to Atlanta News First.

Gamble’s family has hired attorneys to conduct an independent investigation into the crash and is advocating for safety improvements such as speed bumps, additional stop signs, and a four-way stop at the intersection. A petition started by the CAU NAACP also calls for these changes, Atlanta News First reported.

Community members and neighbors expressed concerns about the busy nature of the area, which includes stores, apartments, and MARTA bus stops, and suggested adding lighted crosswalks and a stoplight to help slow traffic, according to Atlanta News First.
