Elon Musk pledged to give one share of his company SpaceX to every child in the United States next year, according to reports from the Boston Herald and The Hill. Musk described this as "the first of many" such gestures but did not provide details on how the shares will be distributed.

This announcement came shortly after AI company Anthropic declared it would commit 5% of its shares to a new public benefit fund, as reported by the Boston Herald. Musk responded to Anthropic's move by recommending shares be given directly to the public.

With about 73 million children under 18 in the U.S., the value of Musk's pledge could be approximately $10.66 billion based on SpaceX's recent share price. The pledge coincides with growing public concern over the rapid development of artificial intelligence, a topic highlighted by both Musk and Anthropic leaders.

Musk has also been a significant donor in the current midterm elections, contributing more than $276 million to support Republican candidates, according to the Boston Herald. The broader context includes debates over AI regulation and political dynamics influencing technology development.
