North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made an unexpected visit to China, appearing publicly after rumours about his health and whereabouts, according to reports from AOL and Express. The visit aimed to reinforce cooperation between the two communist countries.
During the trip, Kim Jong Un was seen smiling and meeting Chinese officials, including foreign minister Wang Yi, as reported by both outlets. He praised Chinese President Xi Jinping's leadership and committed to deepening bilateral cooperation.
Kim crossed a newly opened four-lane bridge linking North Korea and China, visiting the border city of Dandong, a key trade gateway for North Korea. He also toured a bus factory and visited a war memorial honoring China's support during the Korean War.
Although Kim and Xi did not meet in person, they exchanged greetings through officials. State media reported Kim thanked Xi for his attention to the visit and described the relationship between North Korea and China as an "invincible" friendship forged through shared history.
Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong, and foreign minister Choe Son Hui accompanied him. The visit followed the opening of the New Yalu River bridge, highlighting efforts to expand economic ties with China's support and present a united front against the US.
The trip marks a significant development in North Korea-China relations amid ongoing international attention to the region's geopolitical dynamics.
