Lidl, a German supermarket chain known for its imported European foods and discount goods, is set to open a new location in Silver Spring, according to Bethesda Magazine.

The new Lidl store will take over the former Amazon Fresh space at 12345 Columbia Pike in the White Oak Town Center retail center.

Amazon Fresh closed its White Oak location in February after less than a year, as part of a nationwide closure of Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores announced by Amazon in late January.

White Oak Town Center hosts several businesses including Oak Barrel & Vine, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Jersey Mike’s. Lidl’s new store will be its fourth in Montgomery County, joining locations in Bethesda, Montgomery Village, and Wheaton.

Lidl features a bakery and imported foods such as Spanish olives, Italian pastas, French cheeses, and Greek pastries, and stocks about 80% of its products from private label companies to save costs and time.

In addition to food, Lidl sells kitchen and household appliances, gardening tools, home décor, clothing, and toys, according to Bethesda Magazine.
