Man arrested in Palm Beach for threatening Rep. Jared Moskowitz
A man was taken into custody in Palm Beach County after leaving a threatening voicemail at Rep. Jared Moskowitz's Coral Springs office.
CBS News Miami reported that a man was arrested in Palm Beach County for threatening the life of U.S. Representative Jared Moskowitz. The threat was made via voicemail left at Moskowitz's campaign office in Coral Springs, which is within the congressman's district covering parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties.
According to CBS News Miami, the voicemail expressed intent to physically harm Moskowitz. The congressman confirmed that he and his family are safe, and the individual responsible is currently held in the Palm Beach County Jail. The man's identity has not been disclosed.
The report noted that Moskowitz has faced threats before, including a potential assassination attempt in 2024 involving an armed individual. Recently, another local office, that of U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Sunrise, received a suspicious envelope that police did not open.
Scott Singer, Moskowitz's Republican opponent in Florida's 25th Congressional District, released a statement condemning violence and threats in politics. CBS News Miami has reached out to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for further information about the arrest.
This incident highlights ongoing security concerns for elected officials in the region. Authorities continue their investigation into the threat and the individual in custody.
