South Florida, including Miami and surrounding areas, will experience warmer temperatures and scattered showers Thursday as the region prepares for a period of wet and windy weather, CBS News Miami reported.

Temperatures Thursday morning reached the low 70s in Miami, Hialeah, and nearby cities, with afternoon highs expected in the low 80s. Northeast winds will increase throughout the day, bringing breezier conditions and spotty showers that may affect school dismissal times in some neighborhoods.

A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect from Sunday through Tuesday due to anticipated widespread rain, wind gusts exceeding 35 mph, and king tides that could cause significant coastal flooding, CBS News Miami said. Sunday and Monday are expected to bring the most severe weather, with hazardous conditions possible across parts of South Florida.

Coastal flood advisories are active for Miami-Dade and Broward counties, with high tides potentially causing saltwater flooding in vulnerable coastal communities. A small craft advisory is also in effect for Atlantic waters, and beachgoers are advised to be cautious due to a high risk of rip currents along South Florida's Atlantic beaches.

Residents should prepare for the upcoming weather impacts, including potential flooding and strong winds, as conditions evolve over the weekend and into early next week.
