Mother and daughter killed in suspected grizzly bear attack in Canada

Authorities in British Columbia discovered the remains of a mother and daughter who were reported missing after a short walk, according to BBC World.

The BC Conservation Officer Service indicated that evidence at the scene suggested an animal may have been involved in the deaths, with conservation officers working to track down any bears responsible.

The women, aged 48 and 20, were found near a trail in Bella Coola during search efforts by conservation officers and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as reported by The Guardian.

It is not yet clear if more than one grizzly bear was involved, but any bear captured will be assessed and potentially euthanized to protect public safety, according to BC conservation officials.

Family members described the mother and daughter as very close, often hiking together, with the mother having recently moved to Bella Coola.
