The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh is attracting families with a variety of activities including fried Oreos, carnival rides, and local vendors, ABC11 WTVD reported.
Visitors like Shawn Whitley and her daughter Sarah Liles shared that attending the fair is a family tradition that spans generations, now being passed on to younger family members.
One popular attraction for attendees has been the baby pigs, which continues to delight visitors of all ages, according to the report.
Good weather on Friday encouraged more people to visit the fairgrounds, with families coming from across North Carolina and other states, including some from Colorado.
Safety is a priority during the 11-day event, with about 57 law enforcement agencies involved and over 100 officers patrolling each night to ensure a secure environment for thousands of visitors.
Despite the focus on safety, many fairgoers expressed their excitement about enjoying the food, rides, and the overall experience that keeps them returning year after year.
