Beau Lamarre-Condon, a New South Wales police officer, is on trial accused of fatally shooting two men, Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, with his service weapon, according to The Guardian.

In his first statement during the double murder trial, Lamarre-Condon said he initially wanted to report the deaths to the police but was persuaded by a friend to dispose of the bodies immediately.

The trial is ongoing, and The Guardian is providing live updates on the case and related Australian political developments.

The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of a police officer and the circumstances surrounding the deaths and subsequent handling of the bodies.
