Panthers hire former Pro Bowl player DeAngelo Hall as cornerbacks coach
Carolina Panthers add DeAngelo Hall to coaching staff amid injuries and recent firings.
The Carolina Panthers have hired former NFL Pro Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall as their new cornerbacks coach, WBTV reported. Hall, who played 14 seasons in the NFL primarily with Washington, returns to the Panthers after previously serving as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2023 and 2024.
This coaching change comes after the Panthers fired defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley on October 30, indicating a significant shakeup in the defensive staff.
The Panthers’ cornerback group has been severely impacted by injuries, with starters Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson on injured reserve since Week 3. Backup corners have also suffered injuries, forcing less experienced players like Marco Wilson and draft pick Chau Smith-Wade into starting roles.
The team hopes that Horn and Jackson will return soon, which would greatly strengthen the Panthers’ defense. Carolina’s next game is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, when they will host the Denver Broncos at Bank of America Stadium following a short break after their Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers.
