Pastry chefs share essential tools for baking perfect cookies
Professional bakers highlight key measuring cups, rolling pins, and ingredient tips for homemade cookies.
NBC News reported that professional bakers emphasize the importance of using the right tools to bake homemade cookies, especially during the holidays. They advise maintaining the core structural ingredients like flour, butter, and sugar to preserve the recipe's integrity, while allowing flexibility with flavors and mix-ins such as vanilla extract or cinnamon.
For accurate measurements, bakers recommend using dry measuring cups for ingredients like flour and sugar, and liquid measuring cups for wet ingredients. Joseph Joseph dry measuring cups come in an eight-piece set with sizes from one teaspoon to one cup, featuring nesting handles that snap together for storage and are dishwasher safe.
For wet ingredients, Pyrex offers a set of three glass measuring cups with capacities of 1, 2, and 4 cups. These cups have clear measurement markers in ounces and milliliters, sturdy handles, pour spouts, and are safe for dishwasher, freezer, microwave, and preheated oven use.
Regarding rolling pins, experts prefer a French tapered rolling pin, shaped wider in the middle and narrower at the ends, which provides better control over dough. The J.K. Adams rolling pin is made from warp-resistant hardwood with a textured surface that holds flour well, measuring 20.5 inches long and recommended for hand washing.
