Prince George’s County Council Chair Krystal Oriadha has expressed support for an audit of millions of dollars in tax funds awarded to a nonprofit founded by her friend, according to FOX45 Baltimore.

The funds, totaling $12.8 million, were given over recent years to the California-based Edward Charles Foundation, which manages money for Community on the Frontline, a local nonprofit led by Oriadha’s friend Janna Parker, FOX45 Baltimore reported.

Several county council members raised concerns about the selection of a nonprofit connected to Oriadha, prompting the council chair to address the issue in an interview with FOX45 Baltimore.

Oriadha stated she requested the audit herself and believes it will confirm that all funds were properly accounted for and that she acted with integrity. She emphasized that the nonprofit was held to the same standards as others receiving grants.

She also explained that her friendship with Parker began in adulthood through prior nonprofit work, which gave her confidence in Parker’s ability to manage the grant money effectively.

The audit is expected to provide further clarity on the allocation and use of the funds by the nonprofit organizations involved.
