San Diego Rep. Sara Jacobs aims for House Democratic Caucus vice chair role
Rep. Sara Jacobs seeks to expand her influence in Congress as Democrats target House control.
San Diego Representative Sara Jacobs is pursuing a leadership position within the House Democratic Caucus as Democrats work to regain control of the House, the Times of San Diego reported.
Jacobs, a 37-year-old native of San Diego, is expected to secure a fourth term in the House and has expressed interest in becoming the caucus vice chair, a role that will soon be vacant due to term limits on the current vice chair, Rep. Ted Lieu of western Los Angeles County.
In a letter to colleagues shared in August, Jacobs emphasized the importance of collaboration within the caucus to build a stronger party, highlighting the need to listen, work through differences, and seek solutions together.
Her campaign has focused on supporting a Democratic takeover in the upcoming midterms, but the vice chair position will open regardless of the election outcome, providing Jacobs an opportunity to advance in party leadership.
Jacobs' team declined further comment to the Times of San Diego about her leadership aspirations.
