The City of Santa Rosa has issued a public warning about an increase in phone scams targeting residents, KRON4 reported.
In these scams, callers impersonate federal agents and claim the victim has been selected to assist with a confidential investigation, surveillance operation, or sting, city officials explained.
The scammers then demand money from the victims, attempting to exploit their trust and fear.
Santa Rosa officials urge residents to be cautious and verify any such calls before providing personal information or money.
