Selma Blair apologizes after plane incident assault charges
Selma Blair issues public apology weeks after arrest on assault charges following a flight incident.
Selma Blair has publicly apologized for the first time since her arrest on assault charges related to an incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York City earlier this month, NBC News reported. In a video shared on Instagram, Blair expressed remorse to those she said she disappointed, hurt, or frightened during the event.
The 54-year-old actress was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after allegedly becoming physically abusive on the plane, leading to her removal. According to the Port Authority Police Department, two flight attendants were injured, with one requiring hospital treatment.
Blair was also accused of kicking a Port Authority police officer and a nurse at the hospital, charges to which she pleaded not guilty, NBC News added. She has been quiet since the incident on October 11, with her lawyers advising her not to discuss the case publicly.
In her apology video, Blair said she takes the matter very seriously and thanked those who sent messages of support, including for her son and her service dog, Scout, who was with her during the flight, ABC News reported. She said she will focus on her health and family moving forward.
