The Oklahoma City Thunder announced they will retire the No. 0 jersey of former league MVP Russell Westbrook in February, according to WPLG Local 10 and WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando.

Westbrook, 37, played 11 of his 18 NBA seasons with the Thunder and retired as the team's leader in multiple categories including games played, points, rebounds, assists, steals, field goals, and minutes, WKMG News 6 reported.

During his time with the Thunder, Westbrook helped the team achieve the third-best NBA record and reach the NBA Finals in 2012, as well as making nine playoff appearances and four Western Conference Finals, Yahoo Sports detailed.

Westbrook was named MVP for the 2016-17 season after averaging a league-best 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists, and 1.63 steals per game, becoming the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season. His 42 triple-doubles that season set an NBA record, and his 209 career triple-doubles remain the most in NBA history, Yahoo Sports added.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti highlighted Westbrook's impact both on the court and in the community and said that Oklahomans consider him one of their own. The jersey retirement ceremony is scheduled for February 7 when the Thunder host the New York Knicks, as reported by Yahoo Sports and WPLG Local 10.

Westbrook announced his retirement in August after 18 NBA seasons, according to Yahoo Sports.
