Trump and Melania host annual Halloween event at White House

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump hosted the annual Halloween celebration at the White House, handing out candy to hundreds of costumed children, PBS NewsHour reported.

The event featured a line of visitors stretching down the driveway, with children dressed as characters like Barbie, Tigger, Batman, and founding fathers. The White House entrance was decorated with pumpkins, ivy, and a giant faux moon, while a military band performed Halloween classics.

During the celebration, Trump paused to watch a low flyover of his Qatari Air Force One jet and briefly danced to a rendition of the "Ghostbusters" theme song before the couple returned inside after about an hour, according to PBS NewsHour.

The Hill noted that the event took place shortly after Trump returned from South Carolina, where he had rallied support for Republicans ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
