Trump approval rating hits record low ahead of midterm elections
A new poll shows President Trump's approval rating at 33%, the lowest recorded, two weeks before the midterms.
A recent Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found President Donald Trump's approval rating at a record low of 33% among U.S. adults, with 66% disapproving of his job performance, FOX 5 DC reported. This marks a decline from previous surveys in April and July.
The poll, conducted October 9-13, also revealed that 52% of respondents strongly disapprove of Trump. Among likely voters, 38% approve while 62% disapprove of the president's performance, according to fox7austin.com and fox5ny.com.
Trump's approval on economic management is particularly low, with only 28% approving, down from 33% in July and 41% in February. Approximately three-quarters of Americans disapprove of how he has handled inflation and the cost of living, the poll found.
The midterm elections scheduled for November 3 will determine control of Congress. The Washington Post noted that presidential approval ratings are a significant factor influencing midterm outcomes. Trump has urged voters to consider him as if he were on the ballot, while Republicans privately express concern about the impact of his low approval ratings, according to The Associated Press.
Rallies opposing Trump, organized by the 'No Kings' network, have been held across the country to encourage early voting in the midterms, fox7austin.com reported. Trump has also been actively campaigning to boost Republican turnout amid these challenges.
