Ukraine launches over 1,000 drones, hits oil facilities in St. Petersburg

Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones targeting Russia, including a major attack on an oil export terminal and depot in St. Petersburg, CBS News reported.

The strikes caused fires at the Petersburg Oil Terminal and the Ruchi oil depot, with local officials confirming one death and five injuries in the city, according to CBS News and ABC News.

Russian authorities said their forces destroyed 1,015 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions, including Moscow and Crimea, marking one of the largest aerial attacks of the conflict, ABC News noted.

Additional targets included a logistics center of Russian retailer Ozon and a data center operated by tech giant VK, which confirmed being hit, CBS News reported.

The attacks occurred amid heightened tensions between Ukraine and the United States, with President Trump expressing criticism of Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure and uncertainty over further sanctions on Moscow, CBS News stated.
