Washington Post photographer injured in West Bank attack
Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine is recovering after being beaten by settlers in the West Bank, her daughter said.
Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine was undergoing surgery on her finger after being attacked by settlers in the West Bank, according to a report from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Her daughter told The Associated Press that Levine's finger was nearly detached, and she also suffered a broken rib, multiple broken vertebrae, and lacerations.
Levine said the perpetrators, armed with bottles and slingshots, "were kicking me for like 10 minutes," and she was trying to hold onto her cameras and bag during the assault. She was wearing a helmet and a protective vest marked "PRESS," which likely prevented more serious injuries, the report said.
The attack occurred amid ongoing tensions in the West Bank region. The sources did not provide additional information about the attackers or any law enforcement response.
