Wendi Redfern named interim executive director of West North Avenue authority
Wendi Redfern takes over leadership of the West North Avenue Development Authority amid recent leadership changes.
The West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA) announced Wendi Redfern as its interim executive director, according to The Baltimore Banner. This leadership change follows the termination of former director Chad Williams after an incident caught on Instagram involving his behavior toward women.
Redfern, who has over 25 years of experience in community development, currently serves as vice president of real estate development for WNADA. She succeeds Nick Mosby, a former City Council president, who had been introduced as interim leader but is no longer involved with the position, sources said.
The authority was established by Maryland law to manage funds from the city and state aimed at revitalizing a section of West Baltimore. It partners with Coppin State University, whose president Anthony L. Jenkins also chairs the authority's board of directors.
Jenkins described Redfern as a "change agent and project manager that WNADA needs," highlighting her track record in uplifting communities and building strong organizations. He emphasized the authority's role as an engine of social mobility and opportunity for West Baltimore residents.
The board expressed gratitude to Chad Williams for his leadership and contributions, wishing him well in his future endeavors. Redfern, a Baltimore native, has dedicated her career to advancing neighborhoods in the city, positioning her to guide WNADA through this transition.
