Following a $2.5 billion FTC settlement, qualified Amazon Prime customers can receive refunds by April 2027.

Amazon Prime customers in the San Francisco area could be eligible for refunds up to $200 after a $2.5 billion settlement between Amazon and the Federal Trade Commission, ABC7 reported.

The FTC alleged Amazon enrolled millions of consumers in Prime without their consent and made it difficult to cancel the service. Amazon began sending automatic refunds to qualified customers in early October.

To qualify, customers must have tried unsuccessfully to cancel Prime online during the relevant period and used no more than 20 Prime benefits such as Prime Video or Amazon Music within a 12-month span.

Customers who previously received $51 from an earlier settlement may receive an additional $149. Refunds must be redeemed within 60 days of the issue date, with all qualified refunds expected by April 2027.

ABC7 also noted that 7 On Your Side offers a free consumer mediation service for San Francisco Bay Area residents with consumer-related issues, excluding certain legal and labor disputes.
