Trader Joe’s likely opening new store at 3001 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando
Permit records indicate Trader Joe’s is preparing to open a new location in the Colonial Marketplace plaza.
Trader Joe’s appears to be expanding its presence in the Orlando area with a potential new store at 3001 E. Colonial Drive, according to a permit application filed with the City of Orlando. The application details interior renovations including partitions, fixtures, flooring, and electrical work to convert the existing space into a Trader Joe’s store, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported.
The location is an empty storefront in the Colonial Marketplace shopping plaza, near the corner of Colonial Drive and Maguire Boulevard, adjacent to Orlando Fashion Square mall. The space was previously occupied by Burlington and covers approximately 12,500 square feet, according to Orange County Property Appraiser records and the property management company Brixmor Property Group.
If confirmed, this would mark the sixth Trader Joe’s store in the Metro Orlando area. The specialty grocer already has locations in Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, Maitland, Waterford Lakes, and Kissimmee. The company has been actively expanding in Central Florida, with recent openings in Daytona Beach and Viera as well.
Trader Joe’s has not yet provided an official comment on the new Orlando location. Several project reviews related to the permit are due by November 3, indicating progress toward the store’s opening.
Local shoppers can expect another Trader Joe’s option in the area if the project moves forward as planned.
