SeaWorld Orlando reopens Mako coaster after weeklong safety closure
SeaWorld Orlando reopened its Mako roller coaster following a weeklong closure for safety review after a fatal incident at Six Flags Over Georgia.
SeaWorld Orlando has reopened its Mako roller coaster after closing it for about a week as a precautionary safety measure, WFTV reported. The closure followed a fatal incident at Six Flags Over Georgia involving their Goliath coaster, which shares the same manufacturer as Mako, according to wesh.com.
The incident at Six Flags Over Georgia resulted in one death and multiple injuries, prompting several parks to review or temporarily close similar rides. SeaWorld Orlando consulted with industry partners during the Mako closure, as reported by fox13news.com.
Other parks affected by the incident included La Ronde in Montreal, which closed its Goliath coaster for a safety review, and Six Flags temporarily closed nine coasters across six parks. Hersheypark also evaluated its Candymonium coaster, built by the same manufacturer.
SeaWorld Orlando has not reported any incidents on Mako and reopened the ride after completing its safety review. The park continues to prioritize guest safety and works closely with manufacturers and safety experts to maintain ride operations.
