Dale Smith Jr. was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder related to the 2011 disappearance and presumed death of his ex-fiancée Michelle Parker, according to FOX 35 Orlando and WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando. Parker went missing on November 17, 2011, after dropping their children off at Smith's house and has not been seen or heard from since.

Court documents reveal that less than two weeks before Smith's arrest, his son visited the Orlando Police Department to inquire if Smith was still a suspect in Parker's case, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando and WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando. Additionally, Smith had purchased a plane ticket shortly before his arrest, according to a new court filing cited by FOX 35 Orlando.

Smith was arrested on October 14, 2026, following new evidence and advancements in technology and digital forensics, the Orlando Police Department said, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando. After the arrest, the police requested that Smith's arrest affidavit and other court documents be sealed to protect the ongoing investigation, a request granted by a judge.

Prosecutors and the Orlando Police Department asked to keep the records sealed and confidential until at least October 26, citing concerns about the fair administration of justice and the need to protect witness testimony, according to FOX 35 Orlando.

Michelle Parker's disappearance remains unsolved, with her body never found. The case has drawn attention due to the length of time since her disappearance and the recent developments leading to Smith's arrest, as reported by multiple Orlando news outlets.
