New $25 million DOJ whistleblower program offers faster payouts for fraud tips
Justice Department launches $25M Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program to speed rewards for healthcare and government fraud reports.
A new whistleblower program announced by the U.S. Department of Justice aims to provide quicker and substantial rewards to those reporting certain federal healthcare offenses and fraud related to government programs, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The $25 million Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, known as WHIP, promises payouts ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 for information that leads to criminal charges, according to FOX 35 Orlando.
Unlike traditional whistleblower awards, which are often delayed until after criminal matters are fully resolved, WHIP will distribute money much earlier in the process, the DOJ explained, a change intended to encourage more people to come forward with information.
Vice President JD Vance, who is leading the White House's anti-fraud efforts, emphasized that the program offers both certainty and speed for whistleblowers, which is expected to increase reporting of fraud related to healthcare and certain federal agencies.
The program was announced alongside President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, highlighting the administration's focus on stopping abuse of federal programs and sharing rewards with those who help expose such offenses.
