Anthropic, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company, recently opened its first office in Singapore and announced that Benjamin Mann had signed an agreement with the Singapore Ministry of Digital Development and Information, identifying him as a cofounder, the San Francisco Standard reported.

However, in Anthropic’s IPO filing, Mann is described differently. The filing states that although Mann is "often referred to as a cofounder," he is not a member of the Founder LLC nor part of the continuing founders who control over 50% of voting power.

Anthropic’s spokesperson confirmed there have been no changes to Mann’s role and that it remains fair to call him a cofounder. Mann’s own LinkedIn profile also lists him as a cofounder, according to the report.

The discrepancy has led to questions about Mann’s exact status within the company and his shareholding, which remains undisclosed. This situation adds complexity to the understanding of Anthropic’s founding team as it prepares for its public offering.
