Audi to invest $4B in first US plant in Georgia with 200,000 vehicle capacity
Audi plans a new Georgia factory to build premium SUVs, aiming for North America as a key production hub.
Audi announced plans to invest $4 billion to build its first manufacturing plant in the United States, located in Georgia, according to Manufacturing Dive.
The factory, set to begin construction in 2027 with production starting in the early 2030s, will have the capacity to produce up to 200,000 vehicles annually. It will focus on assembling premium SUVs tailored for North American customers.
This new plant is part of Audi's strategy to establish North America as a third major pillar of its global production network alongside Europe and China. The factory will be built at the Middle Georgia Mega Site in Peach County, near Macon, about 150 miles southeast of Atlanta.
The site was acquired in June 2022 through a partnership between the State of Georgia and the Development Authority of Peach County, aiming to attract key industries and create high-quality jobs in rural areas. The location offers access to major highways and a rail line, with room for future expansion.
Audi emphasized that the plant will be designed around future manufacturing needs, focusing on efficiency, flexibility, and responsiveness to market demand. The investment is also expected to generate opportunities for local suppliers, service providers, and training partners.
