Cardiff Met under-19s have become the first Welsh club to reach the second round of the Uefa Youth League Domestic Champions Path by defeating Luxembourg's UNA Strassen, Yahoo Sports reported.
The team secured their advancement with a 4-0 victory in the first leg at Cyncoed Stadium, followed by a 4-1 aggregate win in Luxembourg.
This success has set up a second-round tie against Norwegian side Stabaek, whose academy includes RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa, according to Yahoo Sports.
At this stage, Cardiff Met will compete alongside European football giants such as Chelsea and Benfica, both former Champions League winners, which Cardiff Met's director of football Dr. Chris Baker described as a proud moment.
Cardiff Met competes in the FAW Academy Development League South and will face Stabaek in Oslo as underdogs, with Baker emphasizing the team's discipline and game plan execution against strong opposition.
The club aims to manage the tie intelligently and remain competitive to keep their chances alive for the return leg in Cardiff, representing their city and university on the European stage.
