Barbara Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, donated $2,500 to Lone Star Rising PAC, which supports Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, according to newsradio1290wtks.iheart.com.

This contribution is notable given Bush's Republican family background and comes as Talarico faces a challenging race against Republican Ken Paxton, Fox News confirmed.

Barbara Bush has previously supported Democrats, including campaigning for Kamala Harris in 2024, and has stated she does not identify with either political party, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

The Lone Star Rising PAC has raised $9.6 million in recent months from various donors, including billionaires and nonprofit groups, as part of Democrats' efforts to flip a historically Republican Texas Senate seat.

Texas campaign finance expert Andrew Cates noted that Bush's open donation to a PAC rather than anonymously through a 501(c)(4) highlights her willingness to be publicly associated with Talarico's campaign.

Barbara Bush currently serves as the NBA's senior vice president of social impact and inclusion and co-founded the Global Health Corps, adding context to her political engagement.
